Ceramic Christmas Ornament - Good Ole Santa Claus

This ceramic Santa Christmas ornament reminds me of my favorite quote from The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus by L. Frank Baum. I can just see him say "'In all this world there is nothing so beautiful as a happy child,' says good old Santa Claus. And if he had his way the children would all be beautiful, for they would be happy". This depiction of Santa shows a loving and patient Saint Nick with a mischievous twinkle in his eye.

This Christmas ornament is slip cast using a mold. My husband then inserts the ornament hook and closes the pour hole prior to the only firing. The colors of cranberry, white and a flesh tone are then applied. The piece is then antiqued and the eyes are hand-painted. The cheeks and lips are then blushed using pastel chalk. The entire piece is then sealed in a Flat Matte finish and finished with a cranberry colored ribbon.

While this ornament is a molded piece with a definite shape no two are exactly alike.

Size: 4 inches tall by 2-1/4 inches wide
